The RECAP:

 

Wow, what a day!  Thirteen cars showed up for CART’s first TSD (Time / Speed / Distance) rally in many moons.  It was a SUPER day, upper 40’s, bright sun, little wind.  The course was interesting, saw all sorts of terrain over approximately 50 miles.  Total run time was 2.5 to 3.5  hours. ALL CARS FINISHED (although one team who shall remain unnamed DID manage to completely avoid one checkpoint…..)!!!! 

 

We had a Dodge Pacifica, a Subi contingency, a Miata, Porsche, S2000, BMW, a Ferrari and more.  The Ferrari managed to find the one bump on the course (on a dirt road, of course) and disconnected a bit of wiring, but no lasting damage.  Other than that a few frayed tempers, one husband that took a trip WAY up the creek and one whole bunch of fun!

 

It was pretty obvious how much the event was enjoyed when listening to the war stories being told at the finish – K. C. Dubliners Irish Pub in Burlington.  That and the fact that a number of entrants asked where NEXT months TSD was going to be held……

 

The next TSD won’t happen next month, but it WILL happen before long (Feb / March??).  Get ready to see a whole lot of Southington this time, perhaps with a “Mexican ending”!  We will be looking for checkpoint crew volunteers and also more team members to come out and compete!!!

 

SPECIAL THANKS to our checkpoint workers – John Lindsey & Paul Owen at checkpoints 1 & 3, Bob and Barb Doiron at checkpoints 2 & 4.  NONE of these folks ever worked a rally before, started out cursing the rally masters, became checkpoint wizards and did a GREAT job.  Hats off and THANK YOU!!
