For that exact vid, we won't allow that car to run auto-x with us.
Although I did get a good laugh out of it. For safety reasons it couldn't run |

It would probably be more stable running in reverse. It would make it FWD too. _________________ Can you drive and count to 5? I can (sometimes) |

Heck, we have cars lifting a wheel all of the time - why not 1 out of 3 instead of 1 out of 4?
SCCA MUST have a class for it, no???
Not quite as stable as a Messerschmidt, but probably the same class......
On the safety issue, Liam - it probably has a top speed of around 17.5 mph. The body is obviously designed to take a roll, right itself and continue. Lets email SCCA........ |

The Messer had a much lower center of gravity, and the seating was in line rather than side by side. Just knowing that shows how damn old I really am. My dad had a couple of Isettas, but never a Kabin vagen. _________________ Can you drive and count to 5? I can (sometimes) |

I'm pretty familiar with the Messer, actually. Drove Oliver's down to the package store on several occasions....... got more than a few looks (especially when you opened the "cockpit"). In fact I remember one trip to said store in an (unmuffled) right hand drive racing Jag with myself strapped to the rollbar by my leather belt (and one other we borrowed from someone who's pants probably fell down but didn't care).
HOWEVER .... we won't talk too much about those days........ |

| No problem - it wasn't a serious suggestion either. Obviously it would run in HS (Hardly Serious). |

You got sumthin' against tripoding cars?
No berm in sight, state of the art in 1976 March 76B F/Atlantic Chassis, you can just hear "UNCLE!".
And for bonus points, who is the driver? |

I WANT one. I would be most happy to parade that machine on 3 wheels. Unfortunately, I am NOT independently wealthy.....
Liam - would this be considered unsafe????? (NOT!)

Yeah, neither was my father but that never seemed to stop him from buying 3 F/A's in just 5 seasons. Rollers were over $20k in 1976, about the best I see these days for any good March 74B-77B is ~$30k, usually again a roller. Fully restored they're running $50k-$70k. Unfortunately my father didn't have the good sense to give at least one of his to his teenage son when he stopped racing.
You missed the bonus question even though it's on da side of da car!

Ironically he won his first F/Atlantic race in the rain, Gimli 1975, in this absolutely stunning March 75B, 1 of only 12 made:
He started the race with serious L.B.R. level $10 in his pocket (haha, $10 CAN at that!). Won $5000 for 1st place, believe it or not he was racing that car out of a van with Snowmobile friend for a mechanic and 2 other people. That was the last race he had to do that. |
